During the past 4 years the newly developed catering department has been concentrated on promoting healthy eating; through our community café, our weekly training restaurant, by providing private functions, conferencing and our hugely successful fine dining restaurant, Burton's, all which are open to the local community.
We've developed menus which use both fair trade and seasonally locally sourced produce which are low in fat and high in nutrients - vegetables are always on the menu! We do not offer fast food, and a vegetarian option is always available.
Our new modern Undercroft café is a vibrant, busy café open to everyone in the community and has a unique welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Open from 8am to 6.30pm serving a full menu of quality home produced food including freshly baked desserts, cakes and scones. Our small catering team works alongside a dedicated group of volunteers to provide excellent food and friendly service, creating a vibrant buzz which sums up our work at Burton Street.
If your visit to Burton Street falls on a Thursday you will have the opportunity to experience our training restaurant situated in Burton’s Bar where our team of dedicated volunteers serve a 2 course meal for £5.00 per head.
To support our commitment to healthy eating we run an accredited training course for our volunteers with learning disabilities – Skills for working life – based around our catering enterprise.
All our volunteers with learning disabilities work in every aspect of the catering department, this provides not only valuable and meaningful work experience, but also promotes healthy eating and the value of a good diet.
