Burton Street at The Learning Disability Today Event

on .

The Burton Street Foundation will be exhibiting at the Learning Disability Today event at Hillsborough Stadium next Tuesday 14th May!

"Learning Disability Today focuses on current national objectives and discuss how they can be translated and implemented, to provide high quality local services for people with learning disabilities.

Showcasing innovative projects and organisations that extend choice and control for people with learning disabilities across all areas of their lives, the day of seminars cover a wide range of issues and concerns for people with learning disabilities, their families, carers and the people that work with them." (http://www.learningdisabilitytoday.co.uk/ldt_events.aspx)

"Sheffield City Council is, this year, supporting Learning Disability Today with their Learning Disability event on 14th May 2013 at Hillsborough Football Stadium. This is a great opportunity for people from Sheffield and the Yorkshire and Humber region to gather together and debate issues and share good practice. The event is also a chance for Sheffield City Council to showcase new approaches being used within the city, for example the Travel Buddies scheme." Burton Street Parents and Carers Week

on .

Monday 20th May 2013- Friday 24th May 2013
The Burton Street Foundation

The Burton Street Foundation will be holding a Parents and Carers Open Week, during the week of Monday 20th May 2013.

The Open Week has been organised in the hope that parents and carers will better understand what our service users do, how they feel and what they experience when they come to Burton Street.

It isn't always possible for our service users to explain what they have done in their time with us, and we don't often get the opportunity to meet you face to face to do the same.

During the week, we will have lots of work on display to showcase some of the amazing things that individuals are achieving in our sessions all the time!

It will also be a great opportunity for our staff to find out more about the people we support. Whenever our staff meet parents and carers, we come away knowing more about the individuals we support and how to adapt and tailor our services to best meet their individual needs.

Staff will be available to talk to anyone between 3pm and 4pm every day during the week. If this is not a convenient time, you can also arrange to attend one of the Managers clinics which will also be taking place during this week. The following Managers will be available to book appointments with to discuss any individual:
Dannielle Wibberley (Inside Out), Andy Beeston (React), Julie Melville (Children’s Services) and Vicki Ambler (Outreach).

This week is our chance to talk to as many parents and carers as possible, but if you ever want to contact us to discuss anything about our service at Burton Street, please do not hesitate to contact us.
