The Sibling Support Group Service
The Sibling Support Group Service has recently moved to Burton Street from Sheffield City Council.
The service provides three twelve week therapeutic courses per year for brothers and sisters of children and young people with disabilities aged 8 to 18 years. Sessions are conducted after school on a week day during school term times.
Those children and young people attending the sibling support group will learn about their brother or sister’s disability, be able to express their emotions safely, make new friends and will learn new skills to help them resolve any future problems, all in a fun and caring environment by trained staff. After they have completed a course, they are invited back twice per year to a reunion/fun day up until reaching adulthood.
The service also provides workshops and advice to parents on sibling related issues.
The service receives clinical supervision through the Ryegate Children’s Centre Psychology Service.
