Burton Street AGM
Dear Members and Potential Trustees,
Over the past few months the trustees of Burton Street Foundation have been reviewing all of our governing documents and would like to suggest some amendments to our Constitution and the way we meet and engage with the many different groups and individuals that utilise our services and facilities.
It is our intention to strengthen the links we have with our community of users, and to engage with groups and individuals in a more detailed and inclusive way which we hope will yield stronger relationships and assist us to develop our services in tune with all of our many stakeholder groups. We aim to make improvements for the benefit of all in our local community.
We would like to invite you to an Annual General Meeting, where trustees will be available to explain the main changes proposed and to gather feedback from existing members (who will become stakeholders if the changes put forward are agreed). The new constitution is now available to all members on the trustee section of our website and it can be accessed by clicking the link below.
The main change being proposed affects our membership. A high number of our current listed members are historical and do not have regular contact or engage in any activities relating to the Burton Street Foundation. In the new constitution the membership would be made up of members of the board of trustees, and existing members that wish to remain would become stakeholders. Stakeholders would be consulted on specific topics of interest and be entitled to attend the AGM.
Additionally if you wish, you could apply to become a trustee. We currently have 9 serving trustees but we could have up to 15 in total. If you are interested in becoming a trustee you can download the job description and application on our website or request a paper copy. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from local people with relevant skills or experience which would benefit the Foundation. The regular commitment is a few hours every month to attend meetings and assist the management team in growing and developing the organisation.
